Your Place at the Table food bank – founded in 2012 – has hosted its Thanksgiving food drive for12 years. This year’s version will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church in Mullica Hill.

The food bank Your Place at the Table (YPATT) will host its annual turkey drive at Trinity United Methodist Church in Mullica Hill from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday.

The drive collects frozen or fresh turkeys to provide meals for needy families in time for Thanksgiving. After the collection ends, YPATT will distribute the turkeys from 3 to 4:30 p.m.

According to YPATT member Kristen Skrobanek, the food bank has held the drive for the last 12 years – since its founding in 2012 – to give back to the community not only in Mullica Hill but also Mantua, East Greenwich, South Harrison Township and Elk Township.

“We’ve seen an increase in (need),” she said. “We get some federal support, but all of the turkeys and supplies come from local support. The hope is to be able to feed local families.”

Mullica Hill businesses have also noticed the increased need and are lending their support to YPATT by donating pies for the drive. They include the Harrison House Diner, Cake Boutique and the 40 Point Diner in Monroeville. Mood’s Farm Market will provide produce.

The food bank also accepts financial donations either through the YPATT website, the Trinity UMC site or by Venmo at YPATT. Food donations can be dropped off at the donation bin by the church’s front doors. Besides turkey, needed items are cereal, syrup, canned chicken, dehydrated potatoes, white rice, peanut butter, jelly, applesauce, baby wipes, canned fruit (peaches and pineapple), canned vegetables (peas, green beans and corn), shampoo, conditioner and dish soap.

Items should notT be in glass containers. Anyone with questions is asked to text or call (609) 202-0015.

“It’s a group effort,” said Skrobanek. “It all comes from the community. We can’t do it without the support from them, which is amazing.
