Second Friday at Bayshore Discovery Center. 2800 High St., Port Norris. 5–8:30 p.m. Food from the Oyster Cracker Café including fried oysters, delicious, fresh, oysters on the half shell, local beers from Glasstown Brewing Co at AJ’s Pub, free, self-guided tours of the Delaware Bay Museum, speaker John Brady, and live music by Nick Marley. Ceremonies in Circles. Down Jersey Folklife Center at WheatonArts, 1000 Village Drive, Millville. Experience the vivid roots of West African cultures. Explore traditional masks, garments, woodcarvings, and objects related to special rituals and community celebrations. The exhibit provides insights into the West African traditions of masquerade as well as artistic interpretations of old wisdom and new meanings. Discover messages that connect people to their ancestors and cultural heritage and interpret concerns for land protection and love for one another. Most featured artworks were created by artists in the region, with others acquired from private collections. See works by renowned artists Ira L. Bond, Melvin Deal, Boubacar Diabete, Moussa Diabete, Maxwell Kofi Donkor, Arthur Driscoll, and Richard Robinson Jr.
