The Friends of the Moorestown Library will host the second annual member appreciation event at the Community House from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 10.
The event is free for current library members; those who aren’t may still join to attend.
“We really do this event as a thank you to all of our members for their support year-round,” said Friends Board of Trustees member Elyssa Bojarski.
This year’s event will feature a performance by the Jazz Sanctuary, drinks and food catered by Georgetti’s, desserts from the Pie Lady Cafe and baskets for auction.
“We’re very much looking forward to the member appreciation event,” Bojarski said. “It was super well-received last year, and that’s why we’re going forward with it again this year.”
The Friends of the Moorestown Library was founded in 1853. Memberships and contributions are fully tax-deductible, and every dollar collected from Friends’ membership dues and donations support the library, what Bojarski calls its “main mission.”
The Friends fund a variety of library projects and services, including Kanopy, Book Group in a Bag, museum passes, E-books and audio books, youth and adult programming and summer reading. “The librarians choose what they would like for programming, and it’s our pleasure to support them in the things that they think are important,” Bojarski explained. “They really have a finger on the pulse of the community, and we get the benefit of supporting our library staff, which is definitely needed because they deserve our support.”
Following the member appreciation event, the Friends will hold a coffee table book sale to support the library from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 16. Titles will sell for $5.
“Most people who join the Friends join because they either love some benefit that we help support or they just love reading or both,” Bojarski said. “And those are things that I can associate with. It’s nice to hear people’s reasons for wanting to join and also hear about what they would like to see happen.
Or she added, “just to talk about books.”
