Seventeen scarecrows are on display at Historic Smithville Park, and Burlington County residents and visitors can vote for their favorites.
Voting for the annual Scarecrow contest has begun and will continue through Saturday, Nov. 2, when the winners will be announced at 6 p.m. during the county’s Autumn Lands festival at Smithville. The scarecrows are on display along Park and Maple avenues and feature residents’ versions of Dorothy from “The Wizard of Oz” and other movie characters, scarecrow softball players, a firefighter, an Eagles football fan and others.
To vote, visit https://burlingtoncountynj.formstack.com/forms/scarecrow_contest_voting_2024. Prizes will go to the top three vote-getters. Visitors to the park can vote there using a smart phone and the county’s free Wi-Fi service. Look for the word Burlco in your network list and select it to connect. QR codes are also located on signs next to the scarecrows for easy access to voting.
Visitors are also encouraged to download the county parks system’s free mobile app, available at both Apple and Google Play stores. The app provides easy access to trail maps; park information; facility rentals; and registration for park activities, programs and classes.
