The Township Council and its Environmental Affairs Advisory Committee (EAAC) have placed a plastic bag recycling container in the lobby of Town Hall.

For every 1,000 pounds of plastic bags and wrap that are collected, the township will receive a free Trex bench that is placed in a park or other public setting. The EAAC has partnered with several community groups on this program, including Freedom Barks Dog Park and local scout troops.

So far, the township has received eight benches and saved over 5,000 pounds of plastics from going to the landfill.

Even better, the plastics are recycled at the county’s Recycling Facility, and Medford receives recycling credits that equals additional Recycling Tonnage Grant and Clean Communities Grant funds.

Other drop off sites include Medford EMS on Jackson Road, the Cranberry Hall Senior Center off Main Street, and Lower Forge Brewery.
