A trash truck recently experienced a fire after collecting an improperly disposed laptop. The unsafe disposal of electronic devices, especially those, like laptops, that contain lithium-ion batteries, can cause them to overheat or get punctured, enabling a blaze to ignite. The township offers a recycling program on the topic at monroetownshipnj.org.
